Crafty croutons

Bread gone stale? Not to worry! Save the leftover slices and follow this 10 minute trick to turn them into crunchy croutons.

Step 1

Preheat oven to 180 degrees (gas 4) and cut your bread into cubes, or as close to cubes as the slices permit. It really doesn’t matter what shape they are, as long as they are mouthful-sized.

I have a mixture of bread slices here – my housemates don’t like the ends of their sliced bread!

Step 2

Chop up some garlic and rosemary very finely. I would do one clove of garlic and a teaspoon of rosemary per slice of bread.

Step 3

Melt a tablespoon of butter (or preferably vegan spread) in the microwave. Add the garlic and rosemary and stir.

Step 4

Coat the bread cubes with the mixture, and combine with your hands. Stick the croutons on a baking tray and roast for 10 minutes in the oven.

Step 5

Add to your soup or salad of choice, and enjoy!
